What is Patient Management System

Patient Management System, which is an English term, is referred to as Patient management software when it is translated into Turkish. The patient management system is abbreviated by PMS. PMS is called a medical device software. The software is used to obtain medical information from a medical device to be used for the treatment / diagnosis of a patient. In addition, it helps a medical device. It also makes an important contribution to the treatment of the patient directly by performing analysis. Another important benefit of the software is that it helps a doctor decide about treatment.
  Clinical Applications
  All medical devices are classified among themselves. These classifications, on the other hand, made them a little less restrictive in December 2010 as well. According to the four risk levels of medical devices, It provides rules for the classification of Class I, Class II, Class III and Class IV. The patient management system is classified as Class I or Class II.   It is intended for use by a patient to aid in the treatment / diagnosis of said disease. This will enable monitoring of images / other real-time data in addition to the monitoring device itself. Its use will be class I medical devices. The purpose of the software;
 - Helping another medical device and providing data manipulation,
 - Data analysis,
 - Data editing,
 - To perform image creation,
 - Ensuring determination of measurements,
 - Alarm / alarm identification of results from a monitor,
  The software allows and provides a single way to collect / retrieve data from a medical device. In this way, it directly helps in the diagnosis / treatment of the patient's health problem. It also replaces the diagnosis / treatment decision made by the doctor.
  Patient Management System Examples
  Examples of patient management systems PACS provides remote patient monitoring. Other examples;
  - Data transmission from a medical device,
 - Glucose monitors,
 - Includes medical devices such as blood pressure monitors. The software is used to analyze data over these medical devices.
  Software Discussions
  Too many people in the health sector have expressed concern about PMS's quality and software development process. The development of MS is often criticized because it focuses solely on the software development process, not on the product. Generally, these concerns are expressed as a result of security problems.  Relevant computerized doctor order entry, the PMS example, highlights some of these security concerns. Other criticisms are made in accordance with the regulations in force. Some critics argue that regulations prevent innovation. As a result, he argues, manufacturers can no longer encourage incentives to create new products. In addition, current / future products will have to follow strict licensing procedures. This may adversely affect the sustainability of these products.
  Software History
  In December 2010, the patient management system, organized by Health Canada, is a medical device software. In 2010, a statement was issued describing the classification and licensing requirements of the software. The software is used to transmit data from the medical device. It also analyzes data from a medical device. The software normally makes diagnostic / treatment decisions made by a physician.  In fact, the software is considered a medical device. The software does not only store patient information. It is not just a medical device that also displays the information it stores. Examples of software that are not medical devices are intermediate layer software.
